Because of a huge snow storm, I was forced to stay indoors all day. And what better to do than start my matryoshka screen prints? I've been working on them since this morning, and I kind of forgot how time intensive these little babies are. A normal girl would probably have the screen designs made professionally, but that would be too easy. Plus, I'm a glutton for punishment.
Here are the screens after I've painted on the designs with screen fluid. After they've dried, its time to put on the screen filler.
Note my high tech method of using legos to keep the frame from toughing the sink.
Now, I take the squeegee and cover the whole screen with the red fluid. This would be the "negative", or the area that the ink is blocked from.
Here's a pic of one of the girls after she's been completely covered with screen filler. Now, we wait for them to dry.
Once they've dried, the blue drawing fluid is scrubbed off, leaving the design ready for printing.
I hope this works, it's been all day working on these babies. This truly is a labor of love!
